Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
