Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.
She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
