Exploring a Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered numerous entertaining independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is actually a turd attempting to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: press a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty levels, battle tough enemies and access a market to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps with caution, as a mistake means restarting the level. Bounce off bubbles to propel your character higher, traverse disappearing platforms, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase tougher stages where things intensifies.

Visually, the experience features vibrant stages and a killer music score. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting basic polygons could recall gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, video games have long incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. Naturally, fecal references appears extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already received significant recognition, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is available now on Steam, with the final release set to arrive on PC this November.
