Man Utd Boss Amorim Admits He Can't Avoid Underwhelming Record
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim feels the strain during their 3-1 loss at Brentford
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledges he is unable to hide from his poor statistics and states it is normal that club legends are commenting on him.
Earlier this week, the club's record scorer Wayne Rooney told his show that "the heart has vanished" from his old team.
Amorim has managed just 18 victories from his 49 games in charge, featuring nine out of 33 in the Premier League, where he has still to secure two consecutive victories.
Although high-level club insiders are adamant that the club owner is still supportive the manager, failure to overcome recently promoted their next opponents on the weekend will spark new discussion about his role heading into another two-week international break.
"It is normal," commented the Portuguese coach, when questioned about the former striker's remarks. "You can't escape from the outcomes."
"Additionally you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."
Fan Response and Current Circumstances
United's supporters stayed behind Amorim following the previous campaign's dismal showing, when they ended up fifteenth in the table - their lowest performance since the 1973/74 demotion campaign - and were beaten in the Europa League final, in the hope that the current campaign would be considerably improved.
The manager promised supporters the situation would improve because he had additional time to prepare with his squad without the weekly distraction of European competition.
