The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as announced by the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were present at the museum gathering, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America before the UN meeting.

Official representatives have described the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were welcomed attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation involved presentations alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

The UN meeting will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the previous day he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.

In recent days the prince referred to the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats challenging our world over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the sovereign addressed attendees.
