Passengers on this carrier can soon access high-speed internet during flights at no cost after a recent deal from the billionaire's communications company.
No-cost plus Quick Connectivity for All
The airline revealed that this free, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi service via Starlink becomes accessible to passengers in economy, business, or premium cabins as of next month.
Widespread Deployment Across Various Carriers
The parent company of BA, International Airlines Group, announced it had secured an agreement involving the satellite firm to offer wifi coverage for 500-plus aircraft across their operators, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, and the low-cost airline.
Uninterrupted Wifi from Boarding through Landing
The airline noted that this implementation of this technology was included in a seven billion pound “transformation” plan that will offer smooth internet access to travelers from boarding through arrival, even when they are flying above large bodies of water and far-off locations.
Travelers may connect multiple electronics and they will not require a special access code.
Transformative for British Airways as well as travelers, improving their experience onboard on BA by offering customers seamless internet from gate to gate.”
Present Internet Options
Limited wifi service remains provided to BA travelers through nearly all of its planes through its .air platform.
Members of BA’s frequent flyer program are able to dispatch messages and text-based correspondence in the air without paying, while passengers wishing to watch audio, video, and content on the journey if not travelling in business or first may be charged between £4.99 to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine per internet bundle.
Starlink’s Infrastructure
The provider uses a constellation of thousands of satellites and it's operated under SpaceX’s aerospace firm.
Recent Upgrades at the Airline
BA's leadership are focusing to revitalize the airline around after a long time with budget reductions, IT problems, industrial action, plus large-scale layoffs.
The airline noted that use with smart technology has assisted them to bring its timeliness to record highs since over a decade ago.
Earnings Results
Earlier this year, British Airways reported a jump in operating profits for the first half of this year, assisting IAG’s earnings higher.
IAG is due to release the earnings for the three months this summer on Friday.
