Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray caused injuries at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after getting out of a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A young child was among those injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
